Have you ever wondered why some sunglasses and camera filters are polarized? They are touted as reducing glare and can block almost 50% of the light that would normally pass through the lens.

How They Work (from

Bouncing light is strongest in a particular direction and can make it hard to see. Most polarized lenses are laminated with vertical stripes that only allow vertically angled light to enter the wearer’s eyes. The horizontal light is then unable to pass through the vertical stripes.
