The Dimensions project is contained in an online site with information and videos related to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th dimension. They also explore complex numbers, fibration, and proof. Let’s take a look at some videos informing our understanding of dimensionality. First, take a look at this trailer for Dimensions.
Below is the entire Dimensions video, containing a total of 9 chapters:
- Chapter 1 = the second dimension
- Chapter 2 = the third dimension
- Chapter 3 & 4 = the fourth dimension
- Chapter 5 & 6 = complex numbers
- Chapter 7 & 8 = fibration
- Chapter 9 = proof
We won’t plan to watch all of the 13 minute videos, but will focus on chapters 1-4. Here’s a link to a “tour” of each chapter’s content.
The Second Dimension
Here is a link to information about the second dimension, especially focused on Hipparchus, longitude and latitude, and projections.
The Third Dimension
Here is a link to information about the third dimension, especially focused on M.C. Escher, Flatland, the platonic solids, sections, and stereographic projection.
The Fourth Dimension
Here is a link to information about the fourth dimension, especially focused on Ludwig Schläfli, the idea of dimension, Schläfli’s polyhedra, and seeing in four dimensions (shadows and stereographic projection).
